BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR-Prairie Public) – Governor Armstrong says the State of North Dakota is providing $915,000 to the Great Plains Food Bank in preparation for the imminent shutdown of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program.
The SNAP program will run out of money on November 1 unless Congress reaches an agreement to end the government shutdown.
Armstrong says an additional $600,000 will support the WIC program, for Women, Infants and Children. It will run out of money November 10th.
Armstrong also made a call for donations to the Great Plains Food Bank, which recently started a special fundraising campaign.
