FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Veterans across the country participated in events as the nation salutes their service and sacrifice.
“It’s just marvelous the way the country locally, around the United States, honors veterans now compared to, because I lived through some of the other stuff. And it’s wonderful to see businesses, to see individuals, to see organizations do this,” said Mike Haugen, Retired Adjutant General.
At the Fargo Air Museum, families and friends gathered together to honor those who served.
“Veterans Day is not just a day on the calendar. It’s a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those who defended our freedoms,” said Aaron Krenz, LTC.
Veterans Day, for many veterans, has also become the one day in the year they are able to get together with friends and comrades.
“He’s part of my life, I’m part of his life, we’re like brothers from different parents. And we just stayed that way. And we just grew closer, and we’re there for each other through thick and thin. From divorces to childbirth to kids to your name it. We were there for each other,” said Scott, Army Intelligence.
“We’ve all pretty much done the same thing, and it’s just a brotherhood and sisterhood that you just really can’t explain,” said Susan Schroeder, North Dakota Air National Guard.
