Football: Cape Mount Defies Red Card to Thrash Bong

In the day’s headline football fixture, the “Cassava Leaf Boys” produced a statement performance. Despite playing with ten men for the entire second half, Cape Mount dismantled Bong County in a 3-0 rout.

Ralph Weah was the hero of the day, netting a brace that punished a disorganized Bong County defense. The “Westerners” now sit comfortably at the top of the group with 6 points from two games, while Bong County remains rooted to the bottom with zero points and no hope of progression.

Nimba Rescues Point in Dramatic Comeback

The late game saw “Mountainous Nimba” stage a heart-stopping recovery to keep their semi-final dreams alive.

Nimba trailed 2-0 at halftime against a disciplined River Gee County, but a spirited second-half performance saw them claw back to a 2-2 draw.

The Group Standings:

* Grand Cape Mount: 6 Points

* Nimba County: 4 Points

* River Gee: 1 Point

* Bong County: 0 Points

The Qualification Math

The final round of fixtures has set the stage for a tense finish.

Cape Mount has already secured a foot in the next round, but the second spot remains a battleground:

Scenario A: If River Gee defeats Bong County in their final match and Nimba County manages a draw against Cape Mount, then Cape Mount and Nimba will both progress to the semi-finals.

Scenario B: If Cape Mount defeats Nimba County and River Gee secures a win over Bong County, Cape Mount and River Gee would qualify, knocking out the “Mountainous” boys on goal difference or points.

Kickball: “Gbasajama Girls” Shut Out Gbarpolu

The winning streak for the Westerners continued on the kickball pitch, where Grand Cape Mount’s girls delivered a clinical 4-0 home-run shutout against Gbarpolu County.

The “Gbasajama Girls” remain the team to beat in this year’s competition.

Meanwhile, in other zonal action, Margibi County outclassed River Gee 4-1, keeping the “Gibibi” girls in the hunt for the title.

The competition remains fierce heading into the final fixtures.
