Liberia: Sen. Moye Pledges Construction Materials to United Methodist Church Health Project in Bong County

Gbartala, Bong County – Senator Honorable Prince Kermue Moye Sr., the Dakpana of Bong County and Chair of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, has pledged 500 bags of cement and 300 pieces of steel rods to the United Methodist Church in Gbartala, Yellequelleh District, to support the construction of a medical facility.

The commitment was made earlier on Sunday during the closing ceremony of the United Methodist Church’s 79th District Annual Conference held in Gbartala.

The donated materials are intended to support ongoing construction work at the Church’s GST compound in Gbarnga, where a health facility is being developed to serve surrounding communities.

Speaking at the event, Senator Moye said the gesture reflects his appreciation for the role the United Methodist Church has played in his personal development and in the broader growth of Bong County.

He noted that his leadership foundation was shaped at the United Methodist High School and emphasized his continued commitment to supporting the Church’s development initiatives.

The Bong County Senator described the Church as a vital institution in national development, particularly in the areas of health, education, and moral guidance. He added that his support was driven not only by his public office but also by his personal faith as a Christian.

Addressing recent controversies surrounding alleged same-sex activities within the United Methodist Church, Senator Moye urged members of the congregation to remain focused on their Christian mission. He called on the Church to continue spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to avoid distractions from critics he said were determined to damage the Church’s reputation.

He further encouraged church leaders to prioritize strategic planning and goal setting, noting that sustained focus on development and spiritual growth would help preserve the Church’s integrity and relevance.

Receiving the pledge, the Gbarnga District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church, Reverend Peter Flomo Kaykpah, thanked Senator Moye for what he described as a timely and meaningful contribution. Reverend Kaykpah said the materials, once delivered, would significantly advance construction of the medical facility and leave a lasting impact on the Church’s mission in Bong County.

He also called on other leaders and members of the Christian community to emulate Senator Moye’s example by supporting initiatives that promote community development and social welfare.

The conference brought together clergy, lay leaders, and members of the United Methodist Church from across the district and marked the official close of its 79th District Annual Conference
