Saratoga wrestler Eliana McBeth is the Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week for Jan. 19-24.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, McBeth finished with 40.3% of the vote, topping Menlo School soccer player Bianca Putanec (29.4%).
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
McBeth had a successful week for Saratoga, defeating her 11th-grade opponent from MacDonald High 13-1 last Tuesday. At Cupertino HS last Thursday, the 105-pound wrestler pinned her male 120-pound opponent in the third period. This past weekend at the Lynbrook Ladies Challenge, McBeth earned first place in the field of 18 at 105. She was 4-0 with four pins and didn’t give up a takedown.
