No. 19 Los Gatos 49, Notre Dame-San Jose 47
A game featuring each team playing just seven players ended with the Wildcats (15-5, 7-1) squeaking out a win to remain atop the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League’s De Anza Division.
Los Gatos, which has consistently been playing with nine players due to two season-ending injuries suffered before the season, rested two more who are suffering nagging injuries and had just enough scoring to eke out the victory.
Hanna Behnami led the Cats with 10 points, joining Rita Zhou, who also got into double figures. Amelia Vye had nine points, including the critical go-ahead 3-pointer with fewer than five seconds remaining in the contest.
Kendall Feichtmeir also had nine points. All seven Los Gatos players made at least one field goal.
“We needed every little bit,” Cats coach Sara Quilici Giles said. “Looking forward to seeing the rebound numbers because everyone was making an impact. It was an exciting win at NDSJ tonight.”
Supriya Agarwal led NDSJ (9-11, 1-5) with 13 points.
No. 7 Pinewood 88, Harker 28
Pinewood (18-2, 6-1) had a breezy time against Harker (8-11, 0-7) on Tuesday night in Los Altos Hills, stuffing the stat sheet as six players got into double figures.
Abigail Yew led the Panthers with 17 points, Alexandra Tseng had 14, Sophia Bowles also had 14, Andri Wilkinson had 13, Caitlyn Kramer had 10 and Anushka Krishnan added 10. Pinewood shot 42% from 3 on 36 attempts and 72% on 29 2-pointers.
Jillian Chen led Harker with 18 points.
No. 14 Salesian 44, Heritage 40
Salesian (15-9, 7-0) managed to pull out a tight non-league win as it gets ready to protect its three-game lead over Pinole Valley as the two teams face off Wednesday night. Ezra Palec led Salesian with 14 points as Emma Bryant (8) and Caileigh Edwards dropped in some secondary points in the low-scoring matchup. Emmanuela William had five points plus 15 rebounds and four blocks. Heritage (17-6, 9-0) was led by Jessie Cooper with nine points and Ogechi Nwosu with eight.
California 65, Amador Valley 23
Cal (17-7, 6-2) used a balanced scoring effort to remain in contention for the East Bay Athletic League title. Lana Vu led the Grizzlies with 12 points, and Carissa Rogers chipped in 11. Rachael Osaka (8), Morgan Thomas (7) and Mikayla Nielsen (7) provided supplementary scoring support. AV dropped to 10-14, 2-6.
BOYS BASKETBALL
No. 1 Salesian 78, Pinole Valley 44
The Pride cruised to their ninth straight Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division win and clinched the regular season title with a blowout victory over PV. Jahlil Lindsey scored 14 points, Elias Obenyah had 12 and Carlton Perrilliat Jr. added 11 for Salesian, which improved to 22-3, 9-0. Marcel Baptiste led PV (14-11, 2-7) with 13 points.
No. 4 De La Salle 43, No. 17 Monte Vista 33
The Spartans edged out Monte Vista in a low-scoring East Bay Athletic League contest behind a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double from Mariano Lopez-Aarden. Monte Vista (15-10, 4-4) got 13 points from Ryan Ferraioli and 11 from Ian Desai. De La Salle improved to 21-3, 7-0.
No. 8 Bellarmine 52, No. 6 Archbishop Mitty 49
Bellarmine notched a major West Catholic Athletic League victory over crosstown rival Mitty to improve to 14-5, 6-3. The trio of Brennan Williams, Will Corbett and Sofian Stringfellow each had 12 points to lead the Bells. Mitty (13-7, 7-3) got 13 points from Amani LaMere-Swift, 12 from Joseph Seifu and 11 from Isaac Turner.
No. 10 Dougherty Valley 80, No. 19 San Ramon Valley 60
The Wildcats made quick work of visiting SRV to notch another EBAL win. Alonzo Walker III and Rashod Cotton Jr. each had 22 points, Devyn Ranola had 18 and Rylan Sevilla had 11 for Dougherty Valley, which is now 18-7, 6-2. Tyler Smith led SRV (11-14, 4-4) with 22 points and Philip Hitchcock and Tommy Ambidge each had 11.
No. 12 Granada 78, Foothill 58
Brandon Hahn hit 6-of-10 3-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead Granada (17-7, 4-4) to a 20-point EBAL victory over Foothill at home. Quaran Johnson Jr. added 11 and Jacob Green added nine. Senior point guard Tyler Sum had 17 points for Foothill, which dropped to 12-13, 0-8.
No. 14 Dublin 67, Livermore 55
The Gaels rolled to their second straight EBAL victory behind 25 points from Izaiyah Romero and 22 points from Aiden Li. Livermore (16-8, 2-5) got 22 points from Amare Chandler, 15 from Caden Kinney and 13 from Dylan Wherry. Dublin improved to 17-8, 4-4.
No. 18 Milpitas 69, Palo Alto 37
Another high-scoring performance from guard Dylan Ngyuen led Milpitas to another Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division win. Ngyuen had 28 points while Pranavram Krishnan had 20 and Alexander Dang chipped in 10 for Milpitas, which improved to 19-1, 8-0. Junior point guard Rocco Smith paced Palo Alto (13-8, 5-4) with 27 points.
No. 20 California 64, Amador Valley 61
The Grizzlies closed in on a section playoff berth with a win over Amador Valley. Jaiden Jones, Brayde Kuykendall, Emeka Ifediora combined for 47 points in a gritty home win. Nathan Canilao was in San Ramon and has the story here.
Evergreen Valley 64, Leigh 47
The Cougars pulled out a Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division win with a decisive 16-4 run in the fourth quarter. Jakub Narkiewicz scored a team-high 19 points and junior Ananth Kothapalli had 14 for EV, which improved to 13-6, 5-4. Cade Robertson had 20 points for Leigh (7-12, 3-5).
Freedom 55, Antioch 38
Freedom won its second straight game as three players scored in double figures. John Reed and Delvin Evers-Lyles each had 12 points while Salamen Carr had 11. Freedom improved to 14-9, 5-4. Antioch dropped to 9-13, 3-5.
Fremont-Oakland 70, Skyline 32
Zaire Albert and Leondaus Daniels each had 12 points as Fremont routed Skyline in this Oakland Athletic League matchup. Skyline (12-13, 4-2) got seven points from Felix Lopez-Reyes. Fremont improved to 13-9, 2-3.
Menlo-Atherton 54, Sacred Heart Prep 41
Jerry Williams scored 17 points to lead M-A (17-3) to a non league win over visiting Sacred Heart Prep. Aiden Atkins added 12 and Jacob Sutton had 10 for the Bears. SHP (10-10) got 16 points from Alex Osterloh.
