Dennis Jah (FOL February 3, 2026 Edition): Question: “Dr. Clarence Monibah, what will you do or say to other politicians if you all are put (placed) in one room to discuss the future of Liberia?” ( I may have paraphrased the question). This was a national unity question. Kudos to Dennis Jah and the Focus On Liberia family for that unifying political question.

“National unity, particularly when fostered by political leaders setting aside partisan divides to act as one, has historically been viewed as essential for national strength, security, and prosperity.”
“Many historical and contemporary figures emphasize that political ‘oneness’—the ability of leaders to transcend party lines for the common good—is essential for enduring national strength.”
“A nation’s power is derived from the collective purpose of its representatives.” Prof. Alhaji G.V. Kromah.
John Adams expressed concern over the division of the republic into two major parties, considering it a significant political harm.
George Washington viewed a united government as a key element of independence, tranquility, peace, safety, and prosperity.
Abraham Lincoln famously stated that “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
Alexander Hamilton cautioned against the “intolerant spirit which has, at all times, characterized political parties.”
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel noted that “Manpower without unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and united properly.”
By: Austin S Fallah – A True Son of the Planet Earth Soil: fallahas@yahoo.com:
In a world increasingly marked by division and discord, Liberia stands at a pivotal moment in its history.
This resilient nation, rich in culture and resources, faces the profound challenge of political disunity.
As the nation looks towards the future, particularly in the second quarter of the 21st century, every well-meaning Liberian must advocate for a cohesive approach in which all prominent Liberian politicians, including the current administration, come together to formulate national policies that prioritize the well-being of the populace over partisan interests.
By setting aside political differences, Liberians can foster unity, elevate the lives of all Liberians, and weave an inclusive tapestry of social and economic empowerment that benefits all citizens, particularly young people and women.
A Vision for Unity:
The vision of a united Liberia hinges on the collective effort of its leaders to engage in a dialogue that transcends political affiliations.
“No more, my party is not in power, that is not my government, that their business, I can work with them, I will not listen to them, because they are not in our government, they were there, what did they do? I want them to fail, etc, etc.”
Those un-unifying, self centered and un-nationalistic statements and days of such should be of the past and today is a new beginning for a better and prosperous Liberia.
This collaborative spirit is not merely an ideal; it is a crucial necessity for the nation’s advancement.
By focusing on the common good, politicians can create policies that address pressing issues such as poverty, education, and infrastructure development.
To achieve this vision, leaders must not only work together but also actively listen to the voices of those they represent.
Imagine a Liberia where politicians from diverse backgrounds convene to discuss meaningful initiatives: initiatives that prioritize the education of the young people and the empowerment of women.
Envision the robust debates that could arise when leaders collaborate to design programs that ensure equal access to educational resources, enabling every child in Liberia to thrive academically.
This united approach can manifest in comprehensive educational reforms that meet both local and international standards, cultivating a skilled workforce ready to meet the challenges of the global economy.
Empowering Youth and Women:
One of Liberia’s greatest assets is its young population.
Harnessing the potential of young Liberians and empowering women can be transformative for the entire country.
By uniting to formulate policies that encourage ethical-entrepreneurship, vocational training, and mentorship programs, the leaders can inspire a new generation to break the cycle of poverty.
Consider the potential of a government-backed initiative that lends microloans to young ethocal-entrepreneurs and women starting businesses.
This would not only provide economic opportunities but also inspire a sense of agency and empowerment among individuals who have traditionally faced barriers to success.
By channeling investment into small businesses, the government can stimulate job creation, boost local economies, and ultimately uplift entire communities that could be boosted by the gig economy and captured in future SONAs.
Furthermore, integrating women into the workforce is not only a moral imperative but also an economic one.
Gender equality in the labor market can significantly enhance a nation’s productivity.
By collaborating on policies that promote equal pay for equal work, and access to quality healthcare, Liberia’s leaders can pave the way for a future where the contributions of women, and young people are recognized, valued, and harnessed to drive national growth.
Educating for the Future:
To truly elevate Liberia’s prospects, an immediate focus on revolutionizing the educational system is essential.
The importance of education can not be amplified; it serves as the foundation for personal and national development.
However, many schools in Liberia struggle with inadequate resources and outdated curricula.
This could be one of the reasons , if not the most that continue to cause the downward trends in the educational system of Liberia.
Is the Liberia Ministry of Education reading and comprehending?
A unified political front can champion reforms that modernize education, making it relevant to today’s world.
Imagine a reformed educational system that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and technical skills across all levels.
Liberia can benefit from integrating technology into classrooms, providing teachers with the tools they need to engage students effectively.
Online learning platforms can also be harnessed to reach students in the leeward areas, ensuring that quality education is accessible to all.
Additionally, partnerships with international educational organizations could be forged to enhance teacher training programs and curriculum development.
These collaborations will not only improve the quality of education but will also foster a culture of academic excellence that encourages lifelong learning among Liberia’s citizens.
Fostering National Cohesion:
National cohesion is essential for long-term stability and prosperity.
The path to unity requires intentional efforts to bridge the divides that have historically fragmented the nation.
By publicly advocating reconciliation and dialogue, leaders can help heal past wounds and foster a sense of belonging among all Liberians, regardless of background or political leanings.
Social programs that promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding can serve as powerful tools for unity.
Community-driven initiatives, such as knowledge sharing and sporting activities, can celebrate Liberia’s rich heritage while bringing diverse populations together. (Hoping that the newly nominated Minister of Youth and Sports, and Education Minister are reading).
By investing in these experiences, the government can help cultivate a national identity that transcends political affiliations and develops pride in their collective achievements.
Infrastructure Development and Job Creation:
To stimulate economic growth, significant infrastructure investments are essential.
A unified approach to developing roads, bridges, and public services can lay the groundwork for an economy that thrives.
Not it is my project, it was my projec, but the project of every Liberian.
Infrastructure development not only creates jobs but also connects communities, facilitating trade and enhancing access to markets, which can be captured in future SONAs.
The restoration and expansion of public services, such as reliable electricity, sanitation, and clean water, are critical components of infrastructure development.
By prioritizing these areas, government leaders can create an environment conducive to business and investment, rather than mere facades of benevolence, as exhibited by some companies.
The subsequent growth in job opportunities which may include the gig-economy (jobs) and can be indirectly captured in future SONAs) will be a boom for Liberia’s workforce, enabling families to move out of abject poverty and paving the way for a brighter future.
The Role of Civil Society:
While political leadership is critical, the involvement of civil society can not be overlooked in this initiative for unity.
Non-governmental organizations, community leaders, and ordinary citizens play a vital role in advocating for change and holding politicians accountable.
Engaging civil society in the policy-making process fosters transparency and inclusivity, which are essential for a stable democracy, as captured in Dennis Jah’s questioning and the public import during the appearance of Dr. Clarence Monibah on Focus on Liberia, Edition, February 3, 2026.
Encouragingly, when politicians actively collaborate with civil society, ideas can be generated that reflect the actual needs of the people.
This partnership can lead to innovative solutions that address local issues, further deepening trust between leaders and the constituents they serve.
A Call to Collaborative Action:
The time has come for Liberia to embark on a journey of unity and collaboration that prioritizes the needs of its people.
Through engagement, dialogue, and shared purpose, our political leaders can craft a national agenda that elevates the Liberian experience and offers hope for future generations.
To the politicians of Liberia, every well-meaning Liberian urge you to rise above personal ambitions and partisan agendas.
Stand together, embrace unity, and cultivate policies that uplift the lives of all.
By empowering young people and women, reforming the educational system, fostering national cohesion, and investing in infrastructure development, Liberians can design a sustainable future that transcends the barriers of the past.
Let every well-meaning Liberian envision a Liberia where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive, where poverty is diminished, and where the collective efforts lead to prosperity for all.
In this new Liberia, Liberians will not just celebrate their diversity but also their shared aspirations, creating a society that recognizes the strength that comes from unity.
Today, let every air-breathing Liberian commit to working together for a better Liberia, a Liberia where every child can dream, every woman can aspire, and every family can prosper.
