Champion boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested again in a domestic violence case on Wednesday near Miami, according to local authorities.
Davis, 31, was charged with false imprisonment, attempted kidnapping and battery for the incident, which occurred back in October, the Miami Gardens Police Department said in a post on Facebook. Cops had been looking for Davis since mid-January.
Davis has been accused of domestic violence several times in the past, but he has never been convicted. Most recently, a case against him was dropped in August 2025.
“Gervonta Davis is actually a victim here, and I look forward to establishing that shocking narrative in court,” his lawyer, Simon Steckel, told The Associated Press. “What has happened to Gervonta Davis in this case will transcend the initial charges against him and expose a level of criminality which will be talked about long after his charges are resolved.”
An ex-girlfriend of Davis filed a civil lawsuit against him in October, and the accusations were later investigated by local police. The suit led to the cancellation of Davis’ scheduled high-profile fight with influencer Jake Paul.
The woman told police she was working as a VIP cocktail waitress at a strip club in Miami Gardens when Davis confronted her inside, forced her into a back room, assaulted her, restrained her and led her outside.
According to the police report, Davis grabbed the woman by her throat and hair, then threatened her before letting her go. Officers said she had visible injuries from the incident.
Davis posted bail and was released from jail on Thursday.
