Brother of missing man on Spirit Lake Reservation charged with his murder

FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (KVRR) — The brother of a missing man on Spirit Lake Reservation is now charged in federal court with his murder.

26-year-old D’Angelo Hunt is being held in Grand Forks County Jail on charges of second degree murder and offenses in Indian country.

Court documents reveal Hunt and his brother Isaac Hunt got into a fight that involved a knife in early March 2024 at their father’s home.

Blood stains were found in their father’s home on a TV stand, subfloor and duct work.

Isaac was reported missing later that month.

During an interview about his brother’s disappearance, Hunt said he suffered a wound during the fight and said he did not want to tell law enforcement about it at first.

This past Saturday, a human skull was found on the property during another search.

The next day additional remains were found along with shoes and clothing that Isaac was last seen wearing.

D’Angelo Hunt will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
