Grain Elevator Fire in Mayville Mostly Contained

MAYVILLE, N.D. (KVRR) – Authorities say a huge grain elevator fire that broke out just before 8 P.M. on Friday, November 14, is mostly contained – but that access to the area will remain restricted while the blaze continues to smolder.

The elevator collapsed around 9 P.M. that same night.

The Mayville Fire Department’s Facebook page has since put up a post saying the fire has been contained and other departments are being dismissed.

The post went on to say that 2nd Avenue will be blocked off for a few more days and asked the public to avoid the area.

Houses near the fire lost power during the incident, but that electricity has since been restored.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
