Health Experts recommend being safe and consistent to those working on New Year’s resolutions

FARGO — As the new year rounds the corner, health professionals want to make sure you are staying safe and consistent with your goals.

While the most common goals are to eat healthier, start exercising, and lose weight, jumping straight into it can stress the body.

Effects can vary from sore muscles, fatigue, and reduced performance.

One family medicine physician at Sanford explains that it is a good time to reset your body after not doing it after a long time.

But making sure that you don’t strain your body.

“Even if you don’t like stick with it the first time, that doesn’t mean you can’t start again,” said Chelsea Traverse, a family medicine physician at Sanford. “Whenever you think of it again to realize, hey, I kind of fell off the wagon again let’s get back on track. It doesn’t have to be till next New Year’s when you start that again.”

Sanford recommends to talk to your local physician if you have any additional questions regarding the start of your health journey.
