ISSA President Evan Somah, speaking on behalf of the association, disclosed that the LFA donated a total of 600 footballs.

The consignment includes 400 size-five balls and 200 size-four balls and Somah assured the LFA that the equipment would be distributed across all registered school zones in Liberia’s 15 counties to ensure the league proceeds according to schedule.

Somah emphasized that the donation was not a surprise, noting that the LFA recognizes ISSA as a primary feeder system for the national leagues.

He pointed out that the majority of athletes currently competing in the LFA’s First and Second Divisions began their careers in the inter-school league before being scouted for the nation’s top-flight football.

“We are very grateful to LFA President Mustapha Raji and the entire association family for this donation,” Somah said. “We can assure them that these balls will be distributed among our member zones in the 15 counties and will be used for the growth of the ISSA league.

“We hope the LFA continues to support youth development, and we urge other sporting institutions, like the Liberia Basketball Association (LBA), to follow this good example.”

Also speaking on behalf of the 15 county coordinators, ISSA Nimba County Coordinator Ortize Gee thanked the LFA for its commitment to skill development beyond Montserrado County.

Gee described the gesture as a vital contribution to the growth of football across the country and called on his fellow coordinators to ensure the balls are used strictly for their intended purpose.

He noted that the collective goal is to better prepare Liberia’s future athletes for challenges in the global sports arena.

The distribution is expected to commence immediately to facilitate the timely kickoff of the 2025/2026 academic sports season.
