Armed police officers on Friday barricaded the home of economist Samuel Jackson, sparking anger from Jackson and members of his family.
Earlier Friday morning, Mr. Jackson announced on his Facebook page that his wife had died at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital after she went semi-unconscious and was rushed to the facility for medical attention.

Later in the evening, police officers were seen stationed outside Jackson’s compound. Authorities have not publicly explained why officers were deployed to the residence.

Following a live video posted by Jackson complaining about the police presence at his home, several of his associates and former government officials went to the compound to show support. Among them were former Representative Acarous Gray and former Chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Mulbah Morlu.
Morlu declined to provide details about the situation but told reporters that Jackson remained shaken by the day’s events.
